Emergency Split System Repairs for Bayside Apartments
St Kilda is full of interwar and art deco apartment blocks where cooling was added decades after the building went up. That means long pipe runs, outdoor units tucked onto light wells and rooftops, and drains that were never generously sized. When something fails on a 40 degree Saturday, our line is answered 24 hours a day and a licensed technician is dispatched to sort it.

When Does a Split System Fault Become an Emergency?
When it is unsafe or doing damage. An electrical or burning smell from the indoor head, a unit tripping the switchboard, a suspected refrigerant leak, or water running down an internal wall. In an older block, a blocked drain finds the plaster and the flat below quickly, and that turns into a body corporate dispute nobody enjoys.
Heat matters too. Top floor flats under an uninsulated roof get brutal in a Melbourne heat spike, and many of these buildings have small windows and no cross ventilation. If there is an infant, an older resident, or someone with a heart or breathing condition in the flat, mention it on the call and we will prioritise you.
Other issues can hold a couple of days. A hum from the outdoor unit, weak airflow, a musty smell when it first starts, a remote that stopped pairing. Worth booking, because in a building where access is awkward you would rather organise the repair calmly than in an emergency. If you are not sure which you have, describe it on the phone.
If you can smell gas, a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, or anyone has a headache, nausea or unusual drowsiness that eases in fresh air: turn the appliance off, open windows and doors, and get everyone outside. Call 000 if anyone is unwell, and your state gas emergency line for a suspected gas leak. Do not use the appliance again until it has been checked. Then call us on 1300 730 896.

Water is dripping from my indoor unit. How urgent is that?
Urgent, especially in a flat. It usually means a blocked condensate drain or a frozen coil, and the water goes somewhere whether you find it or not. Switch the unit off, put a towel and container under it, and call. Left running, it soaks plaster, ruins carpet and reaches the apartment below, which becomes a much bigger and more expensive problem.
Does salt air from the bay affect my outdoor unit?
It does. Being a few streets from the water means salt settles on the coil fins and casing, and corrosion shortens the life of the unit. A rinse with fresh water every couple of months helps. When we attend we will tell you whether the corrosion is cosmetic or whether it is actually the cause of your fault.
My building is heritage listed. Can you still work on it?
Yes. We work in heritage and art deco buildings regularly. Restrictions usually apply to anything visible from the street, which affects where a new outdoor unit can go rather than repairs to an existing one. If your body corporate has rules about access or working hours, tell us and we will work within them.
What should I do while waiting for the technician?
Turn it off at the wall if it is smoking, sparking or leaking, and leave a tripped safety switch alone. Contain any water. In heat, close blinds early and get fans moving. In cold, shut off unused rooms and block draughts, and do not run an unflued portable gas heater in a closed flat. Have brand, model and any error code ready.
How fast can you reach St Kilda?
The booking line runs 24 hours. With technicians across inner and bayside Melbourne, same day or first thing next morning is normal. If parking or building access is difficult, tell us when you call so the technician plans for it.
Which brands do you repair?
Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Toshiba, Kelvinator, ActronAir, Brivis, Braemar and Rinnai among others. We are authorised service agents for the major manufacturers, so warranty work is done properly.

"Extremely helpful staff!!! My reverse cycle split system stopped working suddenly (of course when I needed it most), and the staff talked me through the process. They sent a technician the very next day. He was friendly, efficient, had extra parts on hand to fix the problem there and then, and didn't even leave a mess. Great value for money!"

"Joshua is an absolute credit to the company. He patiently explained the options and the fees upfront. The technician arrived early, diagnosed the problem, and informed me the repair was covered under warranty and that he wasn't an approved Panasonic repairer. His honesty saved me a significant amount of money in a voided warranty."

"I experienced a wonderful professional service from the company and the two technicians that installed my new system within several days. The time lag was mostly as a result of organising finances and reconciling details with my insurance company. I would not hesitate in recommending Quick Air to anyone."

"I couldn't choose quality, value, professionalism, responsiveness, or punctuality as my most liked thing about Quick Air. I cannot give a negative answer on any of them as all my expectations were met. The technician was most knowledgeable and the patience and guidance given to his apprentice was outstanding. I will recommend this company to my friends without any hesitation."
