With evaporative systems, a stuck float or solenoid can overflow into the roof space and cause serious damage before anyone notices.

Does living near the water damage my outdoor unit?
Yes. Salt carried inland settles on the coil fins and fasteners and corrodes them, and properties within a few streets of the beach age noticeably faster. Rinsing the outdoor coil with fresh water every couple of months slows it down. When we attend we will tell you honestly whether corrosion is causing the fault or is only surface deep.
My ducted evaporative system smells musty. Is that fixable?
Usually yes. Musty odours normally come from pads that have gone stale, a water tray that has not drained properly, or a system that sat unused all winter with water in it. Pads have a service life of a few years and replacing them along with a clean out generally sorts it. It is not an emergency, but it is worth doing before summer.
