When Should You Call Straight Away?
Any fault with a safety element. A burning or electrical smell from the unit, a system repeatedly tripping the switchboard, a carbon monoxide alarm near a gas heater, a suspected gas or refrigerant leak, or water escaping into a ceiling. Turn it off and call rather than restarting it to see whether it repeats.
Total failure in an Adelaide heatwave is urgent too. Brick homes from this era absorb heat all day and release it overnight, so the house never really recovers between hot days. That is a genuine risk for a newborn, an older resident, or anyone with a heart or respiratory condition. Mention it when you call and we will move the booking up.
