Storm season also brings surges that kill control boards without any warning, so if it died during a storm, treat it as a real fault rather than something that will reset itself.
Complete failure in serious heat matters too, particularly with the humidity here keeping overnight temperatures up. That is a health issue for infants, older residents and anyone with asthma or a heart condition. Tell us who is in the property when you call, and let us know if you have guests arriving, because that changes how we schedule the job.
Some things can wait a day or two. Weak airflow, a rattle in the outdoor unit, a musty smell on startup, one room that never quite gets there. They are worth booking rather than ignoring, since a struggling system tends to fail in the middle of the busiest week of the year, but you are not in trouble tonight. Does the sea air shorten the life of my air conditioner?
Yes. Salt corrodes the outdoor coil fins, fixings and electrical terminals, and properties within a few streets of the beach feel it most. Rinsing the outdoor unit with fresh water every couple of months slows the process significantly. When we attend we will tell you plainly whether corrosion is causing your fault or whether it is only surface deep.
How fast can a technician reach me?
Our booking line runs 24 hours a day and we have technicians based on the coast rather than dispatched from Brisbane. Same day or first thing next morning is normal. If you are up at Noosa or back in the hinterland, mention it when you call so we route the closest available technician.
Can you attend a rental or holiday property when I am not there?
Yes. Plenty of our work here is on rentals and short-stay properties. Tell us the access arrangement, whether that is a lockbox code, a property manager or a neighbour with a key, and we will confirm before the technician heads out so nobody wastes a trip.
What should I do while waiting for the technician?
Turn it off at the wall if it is smoking, sparking or dripping, and leave a tripped safety switch alone. Contain any water. Close blinds on the sun side, open up if there is a sea breeze, run fans and stay hydrated. Have brand, model and any error code ready.
Is after-hours service charged differently?
You pay a fixed call-out fee that covers travel, diagnosis and a full fault assessment, quoted before the booking is confirmed. There are no hidden charges. Parts and additional work are quoted in writing and approved by you first.
