Why does my gas heater need a carbon monoxide test?
Carbon monoxide is produced when a gas heater is not burning fuel correctly, often because of a cracked heat exchanger, a blocked flue, or a burner that has worn over time. How often should I get my heater tested?

What are the warning signs of a carbon monoxide problem?
Some signs that something may be wrong include sooty or brownish-yellow stains around the heater, stale or stuffy air in the home, soot or fumes from the appliance, a pilot light that keeps blowing out, a yellow burner flame instead of the normal blue one, and household members or pets feeling unusually tired or unwell. These signs can point to a problem, but the absence of them does not mean a system is safe, which is why testing matters.
Is carbon monoxide testing included in a gas heater service?
Yes. Carbon monoxide testing is included as standard in a QuickAir gas heater service and preventative maintenance visit. If you’re booking a full service you don’t need to add the test separately. The standalone test is for when a safety check is all you need.
Do I still need a CO test if I have a detector at home?
